This slide shows the automatic dead-time control and the effect that has on operating efficiency, because that is where this really comes into play. Looking at the various values of magnetizing inductance, there is a good high full-load efficiency, but poor light-load efficiency. Likewise, for a high light-load efficiency, the full-load efficiency suffers. That is because a full-load efficiency is maximized with a short dead-time and light-load efficiency is maximized with a longer dead-time.
