The TI MicroReader’s antenna produces a strong magnetic field which creates lines of force in a particular pattern as shown here. Transponders couple well with the reader when they are correctly aligned with these lines of force. Tags pointing at the antenna can be read anywhere in the pink zone while tags at right angles to the antenna can be read anywhere in the clear zones.
