RF Low Frequency RF MicroReader Slide 4

Since most applications need an antenna specifically suited to the system function, there is no standard antenna for the TI MicroReader. The ideal equivalent circuit for the antenna resonant circuit shown here should be consulted when connecting an antenna to the MicroReader. This circuit is comprised of a 29 pF capacitance and a 47 µH inductance which is constructed from fine wire to raise the resistance and lower the Quality factor (Q). The resistance of the loop should be approximately 2.5 Ohms. The antenna included in the mid range evaluation kit (DigiKey part number 481-1039-ND) conforms to these requirements with an inductance of 47 µH and a Q of 16.
