The LT3091 complements Linear’s family of high performance negative LDOs, having been built on the current-based reference architecture of the LT308x family. It can be thought of as a higher current version of the 600mA LT3090. This architecture features a high-accuracy current-source reference and offers low noise, wide input and output voltage, operation down to 0 Vout, and good PSRR. Compared to the voltage-reference based 1.5A LT3015 which is the negative complement of the popular positive 1.5A LT1963A LDO, the LT3091 features single-supply rail-to-rail operation, has a current reference of 50µA with its associated single-resistor Vout set plus 0Vout operation and the ability to directly parallel. Further, the LT3091 has wider input and output voltage range, lower output noise, positive and negative current monitoring, cable drop compensation capability, and floating mode operation.
