Starting with a general discussion of Near Field Communications, often called NFC, which is rapidly being added to cellular handsets, NXP will identify practical limitations and how they are overcome with the addition of a DC to DC Boost Converter. The NXP DC to DC boost converter solves several problems in NFC applications, and may also be used for non-NFC specific applications that require boosting the Li-Ion battery to a regulated 5.0 V or 5.25 volt supply, and up to 500 mA load current.
