The new SMD PTC Superior Series is the ideal component for an over temperature sensing application for thermal derating of power in automotive daylight running lamps. The PTC is used to monitor potential overheating conditions and can be used as a current regulator, thereby offering a thermal shut down. The applied current load decreases at high temperatures which is well suited for automotive LED lighting applications.
