It is a single-chip solution, designed to operate bipolar stepper motors in full-, half-, quarter- and sixteenth-step modes, at up to 50 V and 1.5 A. This device represents the next generation in the family of high voltage stepper motor drivers. It is intended to provide a feature rich replacement for the A3987 while also maintaining simple control options (step/direction).

  • Automatic current decay selection automatically chooses the amount of fast decay to reduce ripple and to provide improved low current accuracy

  • Custom current profiles can be programmed for matching current to BEMF profile
  • Shorted and open load detection prevents damage to IC and surrounding circuitry
  • Locked rotor detection prevents damage to motor reducing maintenance costs
